Uh, Oh. Sardine Sauce Correction

April 25th, 2011 § 4 comments

Daughter Lesley R. alerted Hungry Gerald and SJ to an error involving spaghetti with sardine sauce. In a recent post, HG commented on Sicilian sardine sauce, calling it “pasta al sardo.”

Corrected LR: “Pasta al sardo” means pasta cloaked in a sauce rendered from a gentleman of Sardinian descent. “Pasta con el sarde” is a more appetizing concoction involving sardines.

Although we have no doubt that, to a cannibal, Sardinians may be tasty, we have made the requisite correction and will always check with LR in the future regarding proper Italian spelling!

It appears to me that the Sardinian gentleman in the photo is possibly Hungry Gerald in disguise (as well as sans beard). So, actually, I dare to differ with HG’s statement that sardines might taste better. I think that morsels of HG mixed into pasta would be very tasty indeed. The man eats so much delicious stuff that he is bound to be delicious himself!!

Ok, one last correction and I’ll shut up. The original post called it “al Sardo” (note the masculine o ending). And the correct spelling is “pasta con le sarde”, not “el” sarde (el is Spanish). In any event, it’s a tasty dish!
